Anyone else feel the struggle getting back to work last Monday?
After an amazing Holiday break it was time to get my mind back into work mode and fully recharged. One of the best things Matt & I did was create 2016 goals and break them down by monthly, weekly, and daily goals. Our morning starts with a separate little routine filled with gratefulness and goals. It has honestly helped to create a killer foundation for my day and keep me motivated. Would anyone like to see a post on creating goals?
Anyways, since coming back from a long venture on the East Coast visiting family and friends, and then jumping right back into work, my mind has been go go go. Not to mention as soon as we came back to San Diego it has been thunder storming and flooding like crazy! Matt and I both agreed we needed a weekend with no big set plans, just relaxing & recharging our minds and bodies.
Friday was the first day of sunshine and I was not going to pass that up! During my lunch/workout break I popped in my headphones, called my sister, and went for an hour long walk all around our neighborhood. I walked to the beach, through back streets, and up to my favorite spot behind our apartment.
Honestly, sometimes I just need to get outside to clear my head. This view never gets old and always does the trick to recharge my mind.
Saturday we woke up early, made some coffee/tea (in our new french press!) and smoothies, then met our friends and their (almost 2) year old daughter at the beach for a little recharge & relax time. I took a few pictures, and of course a few snaps because let’s be real, our friend’s daughter is the cutest. BUT then proceeded to put my phone away because this time was about being present with our friends, and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. You can’t participate in active conversations while your texting/snapping/checking social media. It just doesn’t work. Plus it’s rude. Time is precious and I appreciate the time I can spend outdoors and with friends.
The rest of our Saturday was filled with ((fun)) errands, a delicious dinner, and more relaxing.
On Sunday we woke up early, made breakfast, went to church and then ran some fun errands again. By fun I mean going to REI & Dick’s to start our research on backpacking and camping gear for one of our 2016 goals! After all that running around we were STARVING, so we stopped by Jimbo’s for a quick lunch.

Later in the afternoon we headed to our friend’s house to spend some quality time with them and see their newborn baby! It was so great to reconnect after the Holiday’s.
All in all this relaxing weekend was much needed. I am ready to start Monday with a BANG!
How do you relax & recharge?
