The Powerful Benefits Of Bulletproof Coffee

Bulletproof Coffee…It’s become a bit of a craze, have you heard of it?

It’s magical!

And it’s 100% completely normal to think it sounds strange, because it definitely does.  I have to admit I thought it was totally weird that first time I heard about it.  You put WHAT in your coffee??  But this guys…is a serious game changer. For real.

To Make Bulletproof Coffee you brew organic coffee, pour into a blender when finished, then add one tablespoon of coconut oil (Make sure it’s the cold pressed organic kind like here), and one tablespoon of organic unsalted grass-fed butter (<<YES I said butter!), and blend baby blend.

Sounds gross right?  Sounds totally and completely crazy!

Wrong!!  It’s so frothy & yummy!  It’s heaven in a cup and you wont believe the effects that just one cup can have on your body!!

Okay…Who Came Up With This?

Dave Asprey is the founder of Bulletproof and author of New York Times bestseller The Bulletproof Diet.  He has spent the last two decades and over $300,000 to uncover his own biology.  Dave lost 100 pounds without counting calories or excessive exercise, used techniques to upgrade his brain by more than 20 IQ points, and lowered his biological age while learning to sleep more efficiently in less time. (source)  BUT it all started while he was in Tibet.  Dave was given creamy yak tea in order to keep his body functioning in the cold dense mountains. However, the yak tea didn’t just sustain his body’s needs, it did so much more! Dave noticed three major things from drinking this yak tea:

1. He had a major increase in energy

2. His appetite decreased

3. He started to lose a lot of weight

Using this ya tea diet, Dave Asprey lost 100lbs!  He soon began doing intense research on what exactly was in this magical, mystical yak tea and managed to recreate the same results with adding organic unsalted grass-fed butter and cold pressed, organic coconut oil coffee.  And that’s how Bulletproof Coffee was created!

So lets talk about the part of Bulletproof that really freaked me out—

The butter. I was SUPER hesitant to try mixing it into my everyday routine. I am always told by health experts to STAY AWAY FROM DAIRY. So I knew I needed some serious convincing before agreeing to try this ingredient.  The fact of the matter is that grass-fed butter gets a bad rep. This type of butter is high in butyrate. Butyrate is known for preventing and decreasing inflammation and studies have shown that butyrate can also protect against mental illness, improve the health of your gut, help you lose fat tissue, and increase your metabolism. One tablespoon of grass-fed butter has more carotenes than carrots and very high amounts of essential vitamins like, mentioned earlier, K2, D, and E.


My Morning Routine

I have always enjoyed waking up, having a cup of tea or coffee, and enjoying a big breakfast to start my day. Since incorporating the Bulletproof ways, my typical routine looks like this:

7:00am: Wake up and drink roughly 20 oz of water & Our Morning Detox Drink

7:30am- 10:00am: Work on school work/blogging

10:00am: Drink ONE cup of Bulletproof Coffee (trust me, one is enough)

10:30am: Have something small for breakfast like a piece of fruit or avocado toast

11:00am-5:00pm: Classes for the day (I get a small bite to eat in between around 3:00pm)

5:30pm: Workout—usually HIIT

I can say with 100% honesty that this coffee has made quite the impact on my mornings. Not only has the coffee helped me lose weight initially (roughly 3 lbs in the first week), but it has helped me continue to shed off all my unwanted belly fat. It also helps keep my blood sugar from dropping in between classes. Monday through Thursday I go to class from 11 am to roughly 5 pm. If I drink my cup of Bulletproof around 10 am, most days I won’t even start getting hungry again till later in the day like 2 or 3.

Who Should Be Drinking Bulletproof Coffee?

Of course anyone can! Though this coffee is ideal for those of you with busy schedules who don’t always find the time to make healthy meals that can last you all day. Also, the less cooking I have to do, the better!  Making my coffee instead of breakfast saves me close to twenty minutes every morning, which is a perfect for me because my worst habit is I am ALWAYS late….always.

Bulletproof coffee is life changing.  Once you’ve tasted it, you’ll never be able to go back to plain old coffee. So far I’ve convince all of my roommates (who thought I was the weirdest person on the planet for drinking this) and both my parents to try a cup. It took some serious begging, but once they all tried it, like me, they were hooked!  So try it!  I know you are super curious…

    I actually learned about you from an instructor in college who asked us to visit this blog for an assignment, but I have a huge coffee addiction, so when I saw this blog I just had to take a look. As it turns out all the things this Bullet Proof Coffee does I really need a little help with so to speak. I go to bed late and get up early so energy is a big problem for me. I drink 4-5 cups of coffee a day during school days. So having a coffee like this would be magical. I also am constantly in a battle with my weight so this could obviously be a good way of battling back with that and the health aspect would obviously be great. So thank you for posting this blog and I know I will be back for more and diffidently trying Bullet Proof Coffee.

      Hi Jessy! I’m glad you really connected with the post. To give a quick background about myself, I used to be the same way. Go to bed super late (I’ve always been a night owl), and drink a pot of coffee a day to get through the school day/homework. I can tell you it really ruined my gut and stomach lining. Since coffee is very acidic it can break down the important walls of your stomach. I ended up throwing my body’s ph level out of balance and developed stomach ulcers because of it. Try the bulletproof coffee in the morning and try out tea in the afternoon if you still need something. Try it out for a week and let me know what you think! I would love to hear your feedback and results. Also try super hard to get to bed at least before midnight. Of course 10:00 is ideal, but as a college student or anyone that works long hours that is incredible hard. The hours of sleep you get before midnight are double as effective than the hours after. So make them count!

    Wow! I’ve actually given up coffee for a while …… but this recipe has me intrigued! You make the point that (certain) FATS AREN’T BAD when you talk about the absorption of fat soluble vitamins. A good lesson for everyone! And besides, who would dare say NO to “frothy and yummy”.

    This is a very interesting post! I watch a lot of weight loss shows, my new recent addition is My Trainer Is Better Than Yours, and one of the health coaches showed adding butter to your coffee to help with weight loss. My question to you is what does the extra tablespoon of coconut oil do for you?

      Thanks D! Coconut Oil has antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties, but most importantly it is easily digested, absorbed into your body, and burned as energy rather than being stored as fat. It will boost your energy, metabolism, and your immune system!
