Happy Tuesday!! Today is a great day because I have the gorgeous Lauren LeBouef on the blog! Lauren is a freelance model living in San Diego. She has modeled for American Eagle, Brandy Melville, Sun Diego, Show Me Your Mumu, Valleau Apparel, and many more! After interviewing Lauren I learned how incredibly down to earth, faith driven, and extremely humble she is. Her exact words were:
“I never want it to be the girl who is too famous to reply to an Instagram comment, that’s not the case here”
I mean…how sweet is she!! With over 32,000 followers on Instagram she constantly has girls commenting and direct messaging her asking her tons of questions on what to wear & how she became a model, and she finds the time to connect with them.
“We’re all in this together, we all want something in life. We all have goals.”
Lauren’s journey in becoming a model is definitely the unconventional route. Her drive and perseverance proves that if you want something bad enough, you just have to get after it and make it happen yourself. Nothing will just come to you, and nothing will be handed to you. This is why I wanted to have Lauren on the blog for you all to meet her! Before I give it all away, I’ll let Lauren tell the rest!
Okay so you are a model and dancer tell us about how you got started with those and what you devote most of your time to.
LL: I started dancing at the young age of three! It has been my passion ever since! Dance has shaped me into who I am as a person when it comes to hard work and dedication which I’m so grateful for along with the relationships I’ve built with people from it. Sadly, I don’t have too much time to dance anymore or a current studio that I go to so I usually only dance a little now at home on my free time.
As far as modeling goes, it has been about a year since I started modeling! Throughout high school it randomly would spark my interest but I just never had time since I was so involved in the cheer team! The year I started college I researched different ways to start out modeling since it was something I wanted to try and pursue. I came across the term “freelance modeling” and found connections with so many amazing local photographers through the internet over this past year! With that said, I can honestly say I’ve made so many amazing friendships from it with such talented people. I feel so blessed with the amazing companies and people I’ve been able to work with and also for the opportunities that God has given me! I’ve been able to apply a lot of the hard work and competitiveness I’ve learned from dance into my modeling jobs.
In addition to modeling you attend college! What are you studying and how do you balance everything?
LL: At the moment I am majoring in Communication. Balancing school with everything else going on has always been hard for me so last year I really learned and taught myself “time management”. For me, keeping a planner is key so I can write down all assignments a head of time and then plan shoots and working for companies around those times.
What has been your favorite job or project you have worked on?
LL: Hmmm.. WOW that’s a hard question and I’ve never been asked before! Well, I honestly could probably tell you a list of favorites but the one at the top would probably have to be American Eagle for the #AerieREAL campaign. It is all centered on self confidence. I felt extremely humbled when I was asked twice to write blogs and also do a photoshoot for them since so many other inspiring women were a part of it also, and promoting the topic “love your body”.
How do you stay healthy when most people struggle in college?
LL: In my opinion and in that aspect I’d say I got lucky with being able to stay home and attend college instead of living in a dorm or apartment where you’re limited to healthy foods. But my advice to those of you living in either place while in college would be to eat CLEAN. SO… really try hard throughout the week to not have sodas or highly process food/drinks. Drink lots of water throughout the day as well as eating lots of greens/veggies, fruits, healthy fats (avocados, almonds, peanut butter, etc.) ALSO, definitely give yourself a day out of the week to not be so hard on yourself because that’s not living! I mean come on now, you’re in college and probably stressing over finals so I think some chocolate chip cookies on a “cheat day” for the week is much needed. 😉
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
LL: Definitely getting outside! My boyfriend and I really enjoy hikes or runs on the beach. I also will pick up my guitar once and a while and playing some new songs I’m learning or just some old favorites!
What is your favorite workout?
LL: That’s a tough one! Lately I’ve been loving cardio and because of that I like HIIT training!-which is “High Intensity Interval Training”, it gets your heart rate up with in a short amount of time, doing this increases your metabolism even after several hours after doing the exercise. Also while toning a lot of different muscles in your body! (A great HIIT workout here)
What is your favorite healthy recipe?
LL: I love making green smoothies at home! Here’s my favorite:
non fat greek yogurt (optional)
chia seeds on top!
that’s all you’ll need! blend it up and you’re ready to go!
Your makeup always looks so gorgeous and natural! What is your routine and favorite products?
LL: Thank you so much! My routine changes depending on where I’m going for the day but my favorite products are probably mascara, concealer and warm colored eye shadows! (Lauren’s favs are linked here and at the bottom of this post)
What are 5 pieces of clothing you are loving right now?
LL: Rainbow flip flops, boho soft/stretchy pants (On sale here & here!!), fun sports bras, distressed denim, high waisted shorts and skirts (Lauren’s favs are all linked and at the bottom of this post!)
Secret model beauty tip?
Your skin is incredible!! What’s your skin care routine?
LL: Wow that means so much to me since I feel my skin is definitely far from perfect! But I’ve learned trying to maintain clear skin can be possible with these few tips: wash your face in the morning then moisturize right away, exfoliate 2-3 times a week, use toner to tone the skin. NEVER go to bed with makeup on or without washing your face. Lauren’s facewash, moisturizer, exfoliant, and toner.
You are very open about your faith, how does that play a part in your life and career?
LL: If I have something on my mind that day and I feel that God is moving in my life in a way that people should know about then I simply share it! It makes me feel so humbled when people comment saying “thank you for sharing this, it’s exactly what I needed to hear”. Because chances are, I’m going through the same situations as the people that follow me on Instagram. So, with that being said,
“I’ve been given and blessed with a platform where I have the opportunity for people to see what I post, it wouldn’t be right for me to never give the credit back to God and share his love and light to the world! Since that’s what I feel called to do.”
Any words of wisdom for those trying to live more of a healthy lifestyle?
LL: Be active! Whether it’s going for a long walk in your neighborhood or a jog on the beach 2-3 times a week. It all is so great for your body to get up and get moving!
What are your 2016 goals?
LL: To use what I have been given and all the opportunities that keep coming my way to glorify God. Also, to continue to eat healthy and clean and know what’s right or my body.
