Ahhh guys!! We are so so excited to have Brooke Butler on the blog today!
I mean not only is she insanely gorgeous, but she is a career driven babe following her passion while living a balanced lifestyle (<which we are all about!).
I was so inspired after reading this & also kinda craving a gluten-free red velvet cupcake. Woops!
Hi Brooke! We are so excited to have you on the blog! Tell us a little about yourself.
BB: Hi! Love what you girls are doing with this blog. I was raised by a strong mother who always pushed me to be independent and as she would say “break the glass ceiling,” so I am a big supporter of Lokahi and supporting one another!
I am from a small town and moved to LA when I was 18 to go to USC theater School. While there I was a cheerleader, a Kappa Kappa Gamma, and a presidential scholar. I have enjoyed doing so many things growing up from music, to dance, to wake boarding, to writing…but the one thing I have always come back to is acting. It is my first love.
How did you get your start in movie and television?
BB: My start was in a way intrinsic. I can’t remember a moment that I wasn’t in love with the arts. I grew up in theatre productions and eventually made my way to the USC School of Theater. After graduation my entire life became the film industry. I love the pain and the pleasure it comes with. Being in this industry is truly for those that have a suite of armor on the outside, and a soft heart on the inside. My first role was in a movie called “All Cheerleaders Die,” and you can watch it on Netflix! (<<Just finished watching it!!)
What has been your best moment so far in your career?
BB: The people I meet. This world is full is so many mysterious and interesting people. I love finding out what makes people tick. But if I must pick a specific moment I would say premiering my film at Toronto International Film Festival and making the front page of the paper. While there I was sought out by Paradigm Agency and am now so fortunate to have an excellent agent and manager (Silver Lining).
What does a day in the life of Brooke Butler look like?
BB: Reading scripts, auditioning, asking for more auditions, reading more, going to yoga, and laughing with my friends and lovely boyfriend.
You are gorgeous!! Any beauty tips for our readers?
BB: Happiness! Surrounding yourself with positive people who lift up your spirit. When your spirit is happy you will be the most beautiful person in the room. (<< best.advice.ever.) Other than that lots of water and moisturize haha. My favorite is Rodial’s Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic mask!
What is your favorite workout?
BB: I am a yoga feen! I go every day that I can. I also love to hike with my girlfriends. I get to catch up with them and exercise at the same time!
Do you have a favorite healthy recipe you can share with us?
BB: I was diagnosed celiac while I was very sick in college. So my diet and lifestyle has been heavily influenced by that. My favorite thing to make is a veggie stir fry!
I saute coconut oil, garlic, and onions in a pan. Then I add any veggies I want! (Usually cucumbers, celery, jalapeño, carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, etc.) Then I season it and put it on top of some brown rice! Tastes great and fills you up!
Naughty indulgence?
BB: CHOCOLATE…or a gluten free red velvet cupcake from Sprinkles. Heaven in a cupcake. (<<Umm going to get one of these ASAP)
Any advice you can give about someone pursuing a career in acting or modeling?
BB: Be completely obsessed with it. Fall in love with it. Make sure you can’t live without it. And know when its all said and done family and friends will have always been the most important part.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
BB: Traveling. In the last month I have been to Seattle to see my family, Cayman Island, Mammoth mountain to ski, Puerto Vallarta, and then back to Mammoth to ski again. In between the trips I went to auditions and on the plane I worked on my scripts!
What can we expect from you in the future? Any 2016 goals?
BB: After attending the “Women in Hollywood” seminar and watching Geena Davis and Meredith Walker (Co Creator of Amy Poehler Smart Girls) with my friend we were inspired to write a pilot that will empower young girls. That is my current passion project that we will be pushing to have made in the upcoming year! The story will follow unlikely best friends who discover that when they come together magical things start happening…and many more twists! (<< we can’t wait to hear more about this)
