Ice Cube Facials: A Bomb Dot Com Beauty Tip

May 19

Yup you read that right. Ice Cube Facials!

Sooo I kinda sorta really love these.  Like A LOT.

Remember back in high school when you would twist your ankle playing sports and the trainer’s instructions were to go home, elevate your leg, and ice it to bring down the swelling?  Well same goes for your face!  Ice = reduces swelling.

The first time I heard about Ice Cube Facials was while reading Courtney Robertson’s I Didn’t Come Here To Make Friends: Confessions of a Reality Show Villain. Courtney Robertson is a top model & was on The Bachelor.  Ben’s season to be exact!  I have to say this book is AMAZING!  It gives you such a cool, inside look about what the Bachelor process is like beginning to end, and a lot of secrets that go on behind the scenes. (Speaking of the Bachelor have you read my other post about Tenley’s new company DIY Cleanse? Check it out here)

ANYWAYS.

Courtney talks about this killer modeling trick she always uses before a shoot and also on the Bachelor. ICE CUBE FACIALS!  She either fills a bowl with ice and water and dunks her face in it or gets and ice cube and rubs it all over her face. In her book she mentions that on the morning of the Bachelor proposal, cameras came into her room super early so she sprung out of bed and rubbed ice cubes all over her face to look more awake before they started filming.

Lauren Conrad also swears by Ice Facials.

Fast forward to when I shared this tip with my gf Marissa.  She was in town visiting and we went out, drank some cocktails, and sure enough the next morning our faces were puffy and there were some definite bags under our eyes.  This is always bound to happen after a night of drinking due to alcohol being an inflammatory, but your face can also feel swollen after crying, a bad night sleep, serious exhaustion, clogged sinuses, life. (lol). Seriously life in general gives me those little bags under my eyes.  Anyways, so the next morning I filled up a bowl with ice and water and said “here, dunk you face in this.” She was like uhhhh what?  Yup, dunk your face in for a few seconds at a time.  Good thing Marissa trusts me, because sure enough after we dunked our faced in the ice filled bowls and, our skin looked tighter, brighter, and less puffy.

Icing you face is also extremely beneficial for getting rid of pimples!

My amazing beyond amazing esthetician and acne specialist, Danielle, says:

“Just like when your mom had you ice bruises when you were a kid, the same tool can be extremely effective in any inflammatory skin tissue.  Whenever we get an angry pimple our first response should be an ice pack for about 5 minutes. Doing a few times a day can reduce swelling and halt bacteria growth more than any topical product could!  Rule of thumb, whenever there is swelling, ice is your friend”

Great advice!! You can read more of her skin tips here.

More Benefits Of An Ice Facial

  • prevents wrinkles and fine lines
  • tightens and brightens the look of your face
  • reduces redness
  • relieves discomfort and swelling

This ice roller makes it super simple and easy.  And men…you can use this trick too!

How To Do An Ice Cube Facial – 3 Ways

  1. Rub an ice cube all over your face, pausing for a few seconds under your eyes and on your cheeks
  2. Fill up a bowl with cold water and ice, allow to sit and get super cold, dip your face in for 5-10 seconds at a time
  3. Purchase and use an ice roller or ice pack (here is my favorite).  Just keep it in your freezer and take it out to roll on your face for 5 minutes at a time!

This trick is golden.  Don’t believe me?  Perform an Ice Cube Facial on only one side of your face and see the difference between both sides.  It’s amazing!

Have you guys tried Ice Cube Facials?  What do you think?

I just cried when I saw your pictures! I just had the same experience with my skin, and it took me straight to the bottom of life. It looked like yours, just placed around my mouth, chin/jaw. It was a horrible thing to be going through, and the worst part for me is that I have no idea were it came from, and no doctors will test me in this stupid country because they dont think its an allergy, just adult acne triggered by stress etc. Medicine has done its job for now and it looks much better, but am still struggling dealing with permanent scars 🙁 Kind of wish it happen in my teenage years instead of my mid-twenties. Its too hard to except! How are you dealing with scars? Lots of hugs, I know how it feel!!

Oh no I am so sorry that happened to you as well! I had the same exact experience when I went to doctors, no one could give me an answer and I totally totally feel your pain! The acne specialist that I interview in this blog post is who I attend. At first I did every 2 weeks to minimize scaring, and now I go about once a month. She had this growth factor serum that works wonders for scaring!! You should absolutely give her a call.
